Here is Oliver on New Years Day 2009. He has just this week started to really notice his surroundings. He reaches out and grabs things, he sees and notices things, and he follows mom and dad around the house with his eyes and head. He also has decided he loves this chair now. He will sit in it for 20 or 30 minutes at a time (a LONG time for such a short kiddo!!!) which also makes mom and dad happy!

Seth, the Fire Fighter

Yeah, thats me. As part of my familiarization with my new job, I have been going around to all the sections in the Civil Engineering Squadron. Last week, I went to the Fire Department. They showed me the firehouse, all their cool trucks, and then they let me fight a fire!!! Here I am headed running TOWARDS a massive fire:

And here I am putting out the fire (thats me on the nozzel up front):

No worries, it was just a training fire... although, I did come out with a torched helmet and coat and with some minor burns on my hand. Imagine if it had been a real fire!
All in all, not a bad day huh? And it left me pretty stoaked about my choice in carrer.

Its a boy, and now he's here!

Also of note in the past few months; we moved to South Carolina, I started working for the Air Force, we moved into our first house, we had our one year wedding aniversary, our son turned two months old, and I cooked my first Thanksgiving turkey. So other than pretty much everything being new, I guess not much is new...

thats the exciting news here for now. im not gonna lie, im really excited to be a dad. it will be a huge change in lifestyle for us, but were ready for it. my dad pointed out to me that im 25 years old now, and he said, "yeah its about time for you to be a dad." i couldnt agree more. im ready for it! the other thought that comforts me when i start to wonder is that the lord trusts me with a baby. if he didnt, we wouldnt be pregnant. its comforting to know that the lord knows we are ready for such a great responsibility.
